![]() ![]() Imo, he and those two past-their-prime female head writers are doing a poor job coming up with interesting stories that move along for the characters the show already has, especially the vets. No, no, enough already!! Does Frank Valentini truly not realize that he long ago infringed and quite possibly wrecked the “General Hospital brand”? Frank should explain himself: In 2017, what exactly is the “General Hospital brand”? The show is so far removed from its glory days of the early-mid ’80s (or even the late ’90s) it’s hard to believe that it’s the same show. However, shoe horning these characters into another show is NOT the answer. at the expense of Y&R characters being shoved to the background.Īs someone who hated to see ATWT trashed by bad writing for years and then cancelled, I totally get the feelings of AMC and OLTL fans: They miss the characters and want them back on the screen. However, I would be irked if Genoa City suddenly filled up with the Hughes, Stewarts, etc. I’d love to see them again in their OWN setting. I was sorry to see veteran ATWT characters go as their show got the ax. I liked ATWT very much through most of its run (loathing the last five years). A soap needs to stick with its landscape and its established characters, not veer into other areas (without a defined plan to invest in it). My first reaction to this article: What will loyal GH viewers think of this? They may not have followed OLTL or AMC and may neither know (or even care) about those characters. I don’t watch GH but am a faithful Y&R viewer. I just hope they’re written as they were and not so unfamiliar that they become ruined which is what happened when they did the horrific online attempts. It’s great for those of us who loved these people to have them come back to life. They’re testing the waters now that they have the rights back to the characters. I’ve said this on other posts…and others have also said it above…if these visiting characters that were abruptly taken from our viewing lives generate enough interest and ratings improve, perhaps they’ll either have them recurring or think again about reviving the OLTL and AMC in some fashion.maybe 1/2 hour, weekly…who knows. The same reason films and books do sequels with the same “old” characters…who have become beloved. That means telling soap stories as soap stories have always been told…using “old” characters and their descendants, friends, etc…and great news!!!…bringing back “old” friends from canceled soaps that many of us have missed. We’re still trying to revive our “old” (sorry for that dreaded word) shows. “Why not get brand new exciting different new never done…”? LOL. So would you be up for Erica Kane and Tad Martin coming to Port Charles? Share your thoughts below! If they wanted me to do it, of course, I would listen to them.” Michael Knight was enthused stating: “Why not? If General Hospital wanted me, I’d be all for it!” Lucci said, “I would have to know what the storyline would be and if I ‘m in the right hands. Knight were posed the question if they would consider reprising their Daytime Emmy winning roles as Erica Kane and Tad Martin. Thus AMC stalwarts Susan Lucci and Michael E. So if there is an opportunity to inject someone else, without infringing on the General Hospital brand, I think it’s a fun thing to do and it’s exciting for us.” In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, GH EP Frank Valentini expressed: “Many people out there are still mourning the loss of All My Children and One Life to Live, and they still have great affection for and memories of those shows. Smith is reprising her role as Nora Buchanan beginning March 6th, but there may be more in the works! Now that ABC has the legal rights to the characters and the series, All My Children and One Life to Live, the possibilities are endless as to just who, or how, or when someone from these iconic legacy soaps might be worked into the current story on the sole ABC soap left standing, General Hospital!įans are already abuzz that Hillary B.
